There will be plenty of brews and brats at the 25th Annual Oktoberfest taking place on Columbus Day Weekend, Saturday, October 7th from noon to 8:00 p.m. at the new Bold Point Park venue located at 600 Waterfront Drive in East Providence, Rhode Island. Attendees are encouraged to raise a stein to everything German at Biergartens featuring domestic, craft and international brewers serving up a variety of seasonal beers.  Full bars offering cocktails and other libations, savory Austro-German cuisine and live Bavarian and American entertainment, including SPITZE!, the internationally popular German-American band, will also be on tap at Rhode Island’s original Oktoberfest.

“After bringing major musical acts like the Beach Boys to our new Bold Point Park venue this summer, we’re looking forward to recreating a little slice of Bavaria in East Providence to celebrate both German culture and the arrival of fall,” said Michele Maker Palmieri, President and CEO of Waterfront Productions, the parent company of Rhode Island Waterfront Events.

Dozens of varieties of beer will be served, including: German brews Schofferhofer Radler, Radeberger, Warsteiner, Refactor, Spaten, Weihenstephaner and Leinenkugel; seasonal favorites from Rhode Island brewers Narragansett, Newport Storm and Whalers Brewing Company; regional brewers Sam Adams (MA), Harpoon (MA), Stony Creek (CT), Hanging Hills (CT), Two Roads Brewing Company (CT), 14th Star (VT), Otter Creek (VT), Traveler Beer Co. (VT); and other domestic craft brews Ballast Point (CA), Sierra Nevada (CA) and Victory (PA).  Authentic German food and comfort food favorites, including brats, sausages and Bavarian pretzels, and food trucks which will include Open Season Catering, Saugy’s Hot Dogs, Got to Q, Friskier Fries, Jeff’s Wood Fire Pizza and Frozen Hoagies food trucks will be available.  The Oktoberfest Marketplace will feature Guy and Lady Barrel Cigars, the Post & Grove clothing truck and other pop-up shops.

The celebration officially kicks-off at Noon with a collective “Prost”.  Between the live musical entertainment, Oktoberfest’s official beer wench will help keep the party rolling with interactive contests and antics, including the Stein Hoisting Competition.

America’s #1 Oktoberfest Show Band, “SPITZE!”, will play both the modern and traditional Alpine sounds of Europe along with some American favorites throughout the day.  Known for its musical talents, energetic stage presence and explosive horn section, the German – American dance show band and its Alpine folk Instruments (cow bells, alp horn and xylophone) have played the largest German festivals in the United States and Germany. This will be the last performance for SPITZE! at Oktoberfest as the band plans to retire in early 2018.
