“Six Picks” is our weekly column of some of the best of Rhode Island (and nearby) music this weekend. Here’s a look at some top shows coming up this weekend.

Local Show of the Week: The Copacetics, Gumption and Glory, Sugar Cones Friday at The Met (Pawtucket)

All kinds of rock/ska/reggae sounds will be heard Friday night, when three of the area’s top bands play the Met. All three bands are certain to rock the joint – and you’re likely to hear tunes from the new holiday release A Very Copacetic Christmas, just out this week. Details here. 

Ted Leo Saturday at POP (Providence)

POP Emporium in Providence has been hosting a series of cool shows in recent years that have included artists as diverse as David Johansen, Autumn Defense and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Rhode Islander Ted Leo joins that list Saturday night when he’ll play a special show while opening a new exhibit up in the POP gallery: “Get To The Gig” – A Flyer Art Exhibit. Details here. 

Duke Robillard Saturday at the Courthouse Center (Kingston)

RI’s own world class guitarist and songwriter Duke Robillard returns to the Courthouse Center for the Arts Saturday night. Robillard is well known as a founding member of Roomful of Blues, a member of Bob Dylan’s band, the Fabulous Thunderbirds and a solo artist. He plays the Courthouse Center Saturday. Details here. 

Southside Johnny Friday at Narrows Center (Fall River)

Jersey rock will be front and center at the Narrows Center Friday night when Southside Johnny and the Asbury Dukes return to town. Known for his association with Bruce Springsteen and hits like “I Don’t Want to Go Home,” Southside always puts on a great show. Details here. Late word, this show is SOLD OUT.
