Darlene Love Thursday at Greenwich Odeum (East Greenwich)
One of the top concerts of the year comes to the Greenwich Odeum tonight, Thursday Dec. 6th when the legendary Darlene Love brings her Christmas show to town. Love is best known for her holiday classic “Christmas, Baby Please Come Home,” but also recorded numerous hits in the 1960’s until the tutelage of producer Phil Spector. Blues Tribute to James Cotton Thursday at Narrows Center (Fall River)
Blues legend James Cotton will be honored Thursday in a tribute show that will be recorded for a documentary on the late great blues icon. The all-star tribute will feature Bob Margolin (Muddy Waters Band), James Montgomery, Jerry Portnoy (Muddy Waters Band, Eric Clapton), Rick Estrin, Mark Hummel, Curtis Salgado, Paul Rishell and Anne Raines, Christine Ohlman (Saturday Night Live), and the Uptown Horns. Billy Gilman Saturday at the Dunk (Providence)
Saturday night, RI native Billy Gilman is “Home for the Holidays” at the Dunkin Donuts Center for his annual hometown show. Gilman recently starred on NBC’s The Voice, and is also remember as a child star for his 2000 album, One Voice. The concert will feature holiday classics along with some of Gilman’s own material. Ryley Walker Wednesday at Columbus Theatre (Providence)
We previewed several “Newport Folk Presents” shows here including The Barr Brothers coming to the Columbus Theatre in Providence Friday. We need to add one more show coming next week.
