Concert Review & Photo Gallery: Bill Frisell at The Narrows

For nearly forty years Frisell has collaborated with the likes of John Zorn, Elvis Costello, Ginger Baker, Suzanne Vega, Rickie Lee Jones, Marianne Faithful, and Loudon Wainright III

Premier jazz guitarist Bill Frisell took the stage for an amazing exhibition of his guitar prowess at The Narrows on Thursday night. Billed as The Bill Frisell Trio, he was accompanied by Tony Scherr on upright bass, and Kenny Wollesen on drums.

For nearly forty years Frisell has collaborated with the likes of John Zorn, Elvis Costello, Ginger Baker, Suzanne Vega, Rickie Lee Jones, Marianne Faithful, and Loudon Wainright III. Displaying why he is one of the most sought after electric guitaists today, Frisell marveled the audience as if his guitar was an extension of his own body. Scherr and Wollesen backed him adroitly, as the trio delivered a masterful performance. What’s Up Rhode Island was there to capture a night that was “as cool as the other side of the pillow.” See the slideshow below for photos.
