“Tournament basketball is really exciting as is,” said Mystic Aquarium’s Social Media Manager, Adam Cilley in a press release today, “but we think we have a pretty strong line-up of marine life that is worthy of the Sweet 16®, Elite 8® and Final Four ®.”

Starting on March 21, the Marine Madness Terny will take place on Mystic Aquarium’s Instagram stories and fans will be able to vote for their favorite species in head-to-head (or fin-to-fin!) single elimination polls. The Terny, named after the seabirds normally found near the sea, rivers or wetlands, begins with 64 species and takes place until April 8 when the winner is announced.

“Some first round notable matchups include the Japanese spider crab vs. the Halloween crab, crystal jelly vs. blue blubber jelly and piranha vs. American alligator,” added Cilley.

Guests are invited to enjoy everything that is sweet at Mystic Aquarium now through April 8 by purchasing tickets online at MysticAquarium.org.

With its commitment to community and equitable access, Mystic Aquarium offers a signature access program that enable families of all socio-economic backgrounds to connect with nature in meaningful and engaging ways.  With the fundamental goal of educating and inspiring future generations of ocean stewards, general admission tickets are available for $5 each for Connecticut and Rhode Island SNAP EBT benefit cardholder and up to three (3) guests.
