Ground to be broken in Worcester for Polar Park, future home of Worcester Red Sox

The City of Worcester has announced that City, State and Federal officials along with executives from the Worcester Red Sox, Gilbane-Hunt, DAIQ, Skanska as well as Canal District, Green Island and other community leaders will host a ceremonial groundbreaking of Polar Park on Thursday, July 11 at 3:30 pm.

Back in August 2018, the Pawtucket Red Sox today signed a Letter of Intent to build an innovative downtown ballpark in Worcester, Massachusetts that would be scheduled to open in 2021.

The PawSox will continue to play at 77-year-old McCoy Stadium the next two years. Pawtucket and Worcester are part of one market as defined by Minor League Baseball.
