Concert Recap: Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt at The VETS

Legendary singer-songwriters Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt paired up before a packed house at The VETS on Sunday. The duo bantered back and forth, presenting an acoustic set that left the audience breathless.

Both long considered masters within the Americana genre, Lovett and Hiatt played off of each other’s wit in between beautifully delivered soulful and gritty melodies. Woven between tales and tunes, the pair provided their lyrical take on redemption, relationships, and aging.

Together, Lovett and Hiatt displayed why they are considered two of the world’s most captivating and compelling musicians. The twosome played many of their favorites including Lovett’s If I Had a Boat, Nobody Knows Me, Pants is Overrated, and Hiatt’s Master of Disaster, Tennessee Plates, and Have a Little Faith in Me.WhatsUpRhodeIsland was there to cover a memorable evening of storytelling and music.
