Concert Recap: Graham Parker at the Greenwich Odeum

Singer-Songwriter James Maddock Opens

Graham Parker at the Greenwich Odeum

70’s rocker Graham Parker brought an inspired set of tunes to the Greenwich Odeum Friday May 9th. The brash songwriter, who broke out of the UK pub rock scene in 1979 with his album Squeezing Out Sparks, played songs from throughout his 40+ year career.

Parker played solo, switching between acoustic and electric guitars. He covered several from the Sparks album, originally recorded with his band the Rumor, including “Discovering Japan,” and “Waiting for the UFO’s.” Check out his recently released acoustic version of the complete album.

Opener James Maddock demonstrated his talents with an equally robust set. He’s a talented songwriter, having opened previously for Bruce Springsteen, among others. If you missed the show, we recommend giving him a listen.

WhatsUpRI photographer Rick Farrell was there to document the evening. Check out his photos below.
