Little Rhody has some of the richest and robust populations of Italian Americans in the USA, and places that are terrific, fun, loud, food-filled and never short of characters. Where else in this country can you feel Italian heritage than right here in Rhode Island?
You want soupy? Go to Westerly (the world capital of soupy). You want to dine among Italian music al fresco? DePasquale Square, anytime in the spring summer or fall. You have a voglia (woo lee) for Neapolitan pizza head to Newport for authentic certified pizza (yes there is certification process for Pizza Napoletana) Imbriglio’s Pizzeria Resto Bar Napoletana, or you just want plain old macaroni and meatballs? Drive any of the counties in RI on a Sunday afternoon (after church of course), and kitchens are bursting with the smells and tastes of Nona’s recipes and delicacies. Yes, people, RI is Italian central! New Jersey tries, but we rule the world!!!
With that said, mark your calendars for June 15th. “The Italian Chicks” are coming back! A show to celebrate the culture and heritage of growing up Italian or surrounded by Italians (RI that’s you). The Greenwich Odeum will host a show that will make you reminisce, sing, laugh and cry.
