UB40 and Shaggy will heading Rhode Island Reggae Festival at Bold Point Park on August 31st

 Waterfront Concerts is making final preparations for its Rhode Island Reggae Festival headlined by UB40 and featuring founding members Ali Campbell & Astro with Shaggy to take place at Bold Point Park on the East Providence, Rhode Island waterfront on Saturday, August 31st starting at 3:00 p.m. (doors open at 1:30 p.m.).  Other headliners include special guest, The Elovaters, as well as New Kingston, Mike Love, Mighty Mystic and Soulshot.  Tickets for the Festival start at $59, are general admission and can be purchased online at www.waterfrontconcerts.com or by visiting Jordan’s Liquors at 199 Taunton Avenue in East Providence during regular store hours.  On the day of the Festival, tickets will also be available at the Waterfront Concerts box office at Bold Point Park.

“Just like last year’s successful Festival, we are excited to provide Reggae lovers with a full day and night of international and homegrown artists who will create a relaxed, summer vibe on the waterfront,” said Katie Spaziano, General Manager of Waterfront Concerts at Bold Point Park.

UB40, featuring founding members Ali Campbell and Astro, enjoyed incredible success domestically and internationally for close to thirty years from 1979 until 2008.  Highlights include multiple gold and platinum albums and Grammy nominations, as well as four number one singles, including “Red Red Wine” and “(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You”.  Multi Grammy award winning artist, Shaggy, will perform songs off his latest album, Wah Gwaan?!, including his hit single, “You”, as well as his other popular tunes from throughout his career, including “Boombastic”, “In The Summertime,” “Oh Carolina” and “Angel”. In 2018, he collaborated with Sting on the album 44/876, which won a Grammy for Best Reggae Album this year.

This season’s remaining concerts at Bold Point Park are: The Beach Boys this Friday, August 16th at 7:00 p.m. and Big Head Todd and Toad The Wet Sprocket on Friday, August 23rd at 6:30 p.m.

Bold Point Park is a seasonal, open-air, waterfront entertainment venue which features concerts and music festivals by national, international and local artists along with food and beverage options including full bars, lounge areas and local food trucks.  Event-goers enjoy beautiful views of upper Narragansett Bay, the Providence and Seekonk Rivers and the Providence skyline. Bold Point Park is located at 555 Waterfront Drive in East Providence, Rhode Island off Veteran’s Memorial Parkway and next to Tockwotton on the Waterfront.  It is directly across the river from India Point Park in Providence.
