Sun, sand, food, and music on tap for Misquamicut Fallfest this weekend

The beach season continues at Westerly’s Misquamicut Beach this weekend as the annual Misquamicut Fallfest returns.

The 9th Annual Misquamicut Fallfest kicks off a jam-packed weekend of live music, rides, local food trucks, knockerball, fire juggling, karate demos and more on Friday, September 13th  at 5 pm.

Music by Grammy Nominated John Ford Coley as well as Jeff Pitchell and James Montgomery rock the stage all night Friday.  From then, until 5pm Sunday, September 15th, Fallfest features high-gear entertainment including a Saturday Night headline set from Tom Wopat, star of The Dukes of Hazzard TV Show, who will perform all of his hits.

Hosted by the Misquamicut Business Association (MBA) and Town of Westerly, Fallfest will take place from 5 pm – 11 pm on Friday, 11 am to 11 pm on Saturday, and 11 am to 5 pm on Sunday.

Besides a full line-up of entertainment in two areas, the Fallfest features a Food Truck Rodeo Carnival Fare, a chock-full midway of rides and games including Ferris Wheel, knockerball, rock wall, and a Classic Car Show with “The Doc” on Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm and Dean Barber on Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm.

What:  A world class carnival featuring spectacular rides, carnival games and panoramic views of Block Island from the Ferris Wheel. It’s family fun for all ages. Car shows, Fire juggler, music headliners perform all weekend including Grammy Nominated John Ford Coley, Tom Wopat from The Dukes of Hazzard, local bands, over a dozen fantastic food vendors, 40 plus commercial vendors, knockerball, Steve Daggett, Laura Dowding, arts and crafts, Aladdin and Jasmine and much more! Purchase General Admission tickets online at Eventbrite.com. General Admission tickets are also available at the gate for $8. Kids under 4 free, free parking. Headline concerts included in general admission. Special reserved seating also available for John Ford Coley/Jeff Pitchell/James Montgomery as well as Tom Wopat concerts.

Shop, Drink, Eat, and Much More

Over a dozen food vendors will be on hand to serve local festival favorites from chowder to sausage and peppers, fried dough, bacon delights, Del’s, cider and donuts, tacos, kettle corn, pizza and seafood dishes. It’s a virtual Food Truck Rodeo! In addition, dozens of crafters and commercial vendors will sell their wares. Home Depot will hold a workshop for children. Kids can enjoy performances by fire jugglers, LED performers, hula-hoopers, Simply Enchanted characters Aladdin and Jasmine as well as face painting while adults can enjoy rides, crafts, candles, honey, shopping for handbags, t-shirts, jewelry, bamboo clothes, and housewares. 

The Classic Car Show is hosted by “The Doc” on  Saturday and Dean Barber on Sunday from 11 until 3. Featuring People’s Choice awards and Best in Show Trophy with giveaways and personalities from 102.3FM The Wolf. Saturday Tom Wopat will make a personal appearance from 12-2 with the General Lee car as seen in The Dukes of Hazzard. Sunday brings a DeLorean replica of the Back to the Future car.

Rock with your favorite music as Fallfest brings headliners to the Music Tent. Friday Night Grammy Nominated John Ford Coley (England Dan & John Ford Coley) will perform his hits “Nights Are Forever” “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight” “Love is the Answer” “We’ll Never Have to Say Goodbye Again and “Sad to Belong.” Later in the night the legendary Jeff Pitchell and Texas Flood take the stage with Blues icon James Montgomery. Saturday brings Tom Wopat to the stage. Actor, singer/songwriter and guitarist, Tom is best known as Luke Duke from The Dukes of Hazzard TV Show (1979-85) and as a Tony-nominated Broadway actor. Sunday brings the Heart Tribute Band: Whole Lotta Heart who also tribute Led Zeppelin.

Non-stop Family Fun
Walk the midway of world-class rides including the Ferris Wheel, Scrambler, kiddy rides and games. Children will love Face Painting, sand art and kid’s music. Those over 18 can even climb a rock wall. Martial Arts demonstrations by Shield and Keifer’s, a fire juggler, Amy the mime, Aladdin, Jasmine and more await!
