Lots going on as always this weekend on the local music front, and now that the Pats aren’t in the big game, there’s no excuse not to get out and enjoy some live music. We’re having a dive bar weekend here are “Six Picks!

GA-20 Friday at Nick-A-Nees (Providence)

The region’s top “dive bar,” where the music is always free, has a big weekend in store (as they do pretty much every weekend). Friday night, its Boston blues-rock duo GA-20, the duo of Matthew Stubbs and Pat Faherty. Head downcity for an evening of cool music influenced by electric blues players like Earl Hooker, Buddy Guy and Otis Rush. Details here.

West End Disco: Bohemian Ball Friday at Good Will Engine Company (Providence)

The Bohemian Ball is a celebration of the socially unconventional, the non-conformists, the off-beat, the avant-garde. Dress in your most eccentric for an epic dance party featuring live music performances by Zig Zach + Zinno (members of The Z-Boys & Arc Iris) and The West End Disco House Band (led by Taylor Pelton ft. members of Tree Ppl, Zoink Zulag and The Galactic Shag & others!) Air Supply Friday at Twin River (Lincoln)

The mellow sounds of Air Supply were one of the top selling bands 40 years ago behind hits like “Lost in Love,” which became the fastest selling single in the world, leaping to the top of all of the charts. Seven top-five singles later, including the hit ” “All Out of Love,” the band equaled The Beatles’ run of consecutive top five singles. The albums Lost in Love, The One That You Love, Now & Forever, and The Greatest Hits sold in excess of 20 million copies. “Lost in Love” was named Song of the Year in 1980, and, with the other singles, sold more than 10 million copies.  Details here.

Z-Boys and The Silks Saturday at The Parlor (Newport)

A pair of RI bands who really know how to tear it up will kick it up a notch at the Parlor in Newport Saturday night. We love both of these power trios -get out and support local music! Details here.
